Intervention in McLaren v MOL & Others collective action
22 December 2025
The Competition Appeal Tribunal has invited us to intervene in the McLaren v MOL & Others case.
This claim has been brought against major shipping companies, alleging that cartel behaviour by the maritime car transporters led to inflated shipping costs and, ultimately, higher costs for consumers buying or leasing vehicles in the UK between 2006–15.
The Tribunal has invited us to intervene in the Collective Settlement Approval Order hearing, which will be held on 15th January 2026.
In its written order on the matter, the Tribunal recognised the statutory role of the Foundation as the prescribed charity for undistributed damages. We welcome the opportunity to address the Tribunal and explain how the Foundation could distribute any unclaimed funds to organisations and individuals in real need.
Our CEO Clare Carter commented:
We welcome the opportunity to explain how the Foundation can support the distribution process, as well as how we can ensure that any unclaimed funds can be re-distributed to deliver real public benefit.
