The current crisis has put immense pressure on legal advice services throughout the UK, which are facing unprecedented demand from people in desperate need of free or affordable advice. These services are at breaking point and need our help now more than ever. We hope you will join us next year in raising money and awareness to help access to justice services all over the country.
You can still take part in our year round fundraising challenge Go the Extra Mile for Justice, find out all you need to know here.
With great thanks to our wonderful walkers, we are pleased to announce that our Regional Legal Walks 2021 have raised over £105,000 for local free legal advice services!
The Legal Walks are a real highlight in the access to justice calendar and after a year off, we were excited to welcome back thousands of legal professionals and justice advocates to walk together to raise funds for frontline legal advice services throughout the UK.
350 organisations across 23 towns and cities; (from Exeter to Edinburgh!) took part in fundraising walks to raise much needed funds for local charities that provide free legal advice advice. All Legal Walks took part in accordance with local Government Guidelines to keep our walkers safe and to allow them to have fun and raise sponsorship for their efforts.
The 2021 regional Legal Walks are returning to the usual in-person format in locations across the UK this Summer and Autumn. The event is a highlight in the access to justice calendar and sees legal professionals and justice advocates walking together to raise funds for frontline legal advice services throughout the UK.
Prior to the pandemic, the UK’s free advice services were under strain due to funding cuts and an increase in demand for their services. The pandemic has pushed these services to breaking point with many experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand from clients in desperate need of advice in areas such as debt, welfare, immigration, family, housing and employment law.
Without these free services, thousands of people who are unable to afford the services of a lawyer will be unable to access the help and support they need to get the justice they deserve.
We simply can’t overcome the effects of the pandemic and reduction in government and local authority funding over the past few years. What we can do is to ensure that many of the people most in need get help who would otherwise have been denied.
By taking part in your local Legal Walk and seeking sponsorship from your friends, family and colleagues, you will be helping to secure vital funds needed for this important cause.
Click on the location tab below to register yourself or your team to take part in your local Legal Walk. We will then get in touch with you shortly afterwards and provide you with all the details, create an online fundraising page for you and send you additional materials as well.
The safety and well being of participants is our number one priority. Ahead of the event, please familiarise yourself with our safety guidelines which can be downloaded here.
Please do not attend the event if you feel unwell or have any Covid-19 symptoms. This includes a high temperature, a continuous cough, or a loss of taste or smell
